Breathe in… Now Release

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

OK, so I said we'd been MIA for a bit, busy on projects and whatnot and we're very excited about two coming in for a landing today. I'll touch on that here in just a sec, but first something I've been neglecting to recognize…

WordPress Had Some Work Done

In the midst of the hustle we skipped right over posting about the release of WordPress 2.5. Kudos to Automattic and Happy Cog for the wonderful administration facelift. Expect to see our full thoughts on the upgrade in a future post.

With the upgrade of WordPress the WordPress.org website also received an update. A section of the homepage is dedicated to a rotation of companies with sites powered by WordPress. I’m very excited to say we have several of our projects in the rotation. See below…

Hat Trick

That eBay logo is a new one for us… as this week we were able to launch the official eBay Corporate Blog (eBay INK) as well as the eBay Insider Blog (both of which are cnp_studio/Voce joints). The others – PlayStation (PlayStation.Blog) and Yahoo! (Yodel Anecdotal) are previous releases that continue to grow. You can see more about each of those in the portfolio.

New Site: Yahoo!’s Corporate Blog, Yodel Anecdotal

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

Friday was a fun day spent at the Yahoo! campus in Sunnyvale, CA launching the updated Yodel Anecdotal. Myself along with Mike and Josh from Voce Communications got together with Nicki Dugan (Yodel's Editor) to add some more cowbell.

Things started with a meeting on the redesign back in late July 2007 and led to what you see today. Some of the updates included in the upgrade are:

  • Updated Design: A completely new look was created and a big thanks to Jeremy for yet another great one. This helped to allow for now more room within the post body as well as a wider sidebar. We feel that it gives things more room to breathe.
  • E-mail Subscription: In addition to the RSS feed available an e-mail based subscription to post updates is available
  • Tagging: Tagging has been added to help better identify content. Now Nicki has the fun responsibility of going back and adding tags to previous posts on Yodel. Fun!

Pete and Sean took care of all CSS as well as WordPress integration. Mike developed the Image Rotator plugin that you see at work in the header of the new blog (more on that coming soon).

Here's some shots of the old site as well as the new for comparison. As always, you can also check the portfolio for more info on the project.

New Site: Girl Scouts of West Central Florida

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Well, not exactly a "new site." New to our portfolio is more like it. The Girl Scouts of West Central Florida Web site actually launched on October 1. I'm just now getting around to actually writing about it. Kristin over at the Girl Scouts was beginning to wonder if we were not proud of the project. That couldn't be further from the truth.

Girls Scouts of West Central Florida Home Page

The Girl Scouts Suncoast Council was merging with the Girl Scouts Heart of Florida Council to make what is now the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida, a council comprised of about 28,000 girls, 10,000 volunteers spaning eight different counties. When the councils merged they would need a brand new Web site for the single council and this is where we came in.

We tried to make things personal on the site, so the first thing you'll notice when visiting the site are the individual shots of girls from the West Central Florida council. Second, we created Jody's blog (built on WordPress of course) and Jody (the CEO of the new council) has really done a great job of posting content and actively engaging in the conversation. Even more exciting are some of the initiatives on the horizon involving Flickr and Veoh so stay tuned on that.

Mike gets to take the credit on the content management system on the site. Sean gets credit on the design of the CMS as he created the look for use on the CMS he has developed in Ruby on Rails (Girl Scouts was developed in ASP.NET). The site has a variety of content items from static pages, to events, news, forms, photos and more. The content management system Mike implemented has allowed the Girl Scouts staff to quickly and easily maintain the content on this site without having to sacrifice major amounts of time, training or resources.

Pete completed yet another complex concept integration. A quick glance over the homepage and you'll see just how many things overlap. Not only that, but the integration needed to provide flexibility once integrated with the CMS Mike had developed.

That's things in a very oversimplified nutshell. More to come on recent projects

New Site: TrueDemand Software

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Well, allow me to apologize for the blatant neglect of this blog over the past 3 weeks. I won't make excuses for not having a post since August 27, but I will say that things have been a tad bit busy around here. Quite a few sites are all coming in for a landing right now, so it keeps us on our toes. Not to mention we have officially started the end of the year crunch around here. Every year like clockwork as soon as it is September things don't let up until the middle of January. So far, 2007 has been no exception.

All of that is besides the point, though. I'd like to take a second to announce the launch of a new site for TrueDemand Software. Our main role at this point of the project was updating the site's user interface while simplifying the message. Additionally, we have created new promotion landing pages to allow TrueDemand to quickly and easily promote their solutions. This is just the start in many new initiatives for TrueDemand, so check back often!

New Site: Kelly Homes

Friday, July 27th, 2007

We are very pleased to announce the arrival of the Kelly Homes site! Many months in the making, the site features a powerful, custom-developed content manager - allowing check-in/check-out of content, a content approval system, and Textile formatting capabilities. The site also boasts interactive floorplans, that allow any user to "design their home" by toggling different options on the floor plan of their favorite home. Thanks to Mike and Pete for a job well done on the tedious, and extensively detailed interactive floorplans.Kelly Homes Home Shot #1Kelly Homes Interior Shot #2Kelly Homes Interior Shot #1Keep an eye out for the Kelly Homes site in the portfolio soon.

New Site: PlayStation.Blog

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Hey mom, all those years of video games finally paid off! It's an exciting day when I can say we had a hand in the rollout of an official Sony Web site. Josh over at Hyku handled the design of the site along with helping on project coordination. Pete skillfully crafted the XHTML/CSS. Mike, as well as myself, beautifully executed any and all WordPress customizations and Sean handled all server configurations.
