Taking Credit

A question I've been asked many times over the years and Pete was again asked recently is why we don't place a "Site Designed by" tag in the footer of our sites. The simple answer is we're not looking for free advertising when we've been paid to provide a service. Look at any magazine ad, billboard or brochure and nine times out of ten you will not find credit to the designer, producer, printer, etc (one exception would be when creative and/or printing has been donated). A Web site should be no different.
Sure, the temptation is there, between the referring link and the advertising, but still somehow not worth it. At the end of the day, a happy client will provide better advertising than any link in the footer of a site. The biggest compliment we receive is when one client refers us to another business and the best part is it's a result of them wanting to advertise our services, rather than taking it upon ourselves to use their platform to advertise ourselves.
